Kite surfing: Tarifa - Punta Paloma Wind Direction: Levante (E) Wind Stength: 10-15kts Surf / Sea State: Flate Air Temperature: 15 Sea Temperature: warm Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Last day of my short break :-(
The Levante was still gusty as ever, but at least being less strong meant I
could use the 11m.
A Swiss girl I befriended helped me out to launch and even carried my board
to the water... later on a German guy I'd helped launch used to find me
downwind, carry my board, and drag me upwind with my harness! And I saw
another windsurfer rescue a kitesurfer in difficulty. Was this great,
friendly place the same hostile and unfriendly place I'd visited 3 years
earlier? What a postive transformation!
As for the session, it started off really well... did a couple of shorts
runs, but at one point I sailed comfortably on a port tack for about
10-15m, stopped, board came off, did my first ever deep water waterstart,
and sailed starboard tack back to the beach. WAHEY! Small steps, but I was
TOTALLY made up! I'm really pleased.
After lunch the wind dropped a little and it was hard to keep the kite in
the sky, so time to end the holiday on a positive note.
